It’s always a thrill when local tv stations ask me to comment on air about cruise events, give cruise tips, or share special cruise deals. I’ve recently rebranded myself as The Cruise Genius and appeared on WJXT Channel 4 in Jacksonville on Sunday, May 5th. ScottLara1961 just didn’t reflect my cruise experience!
Today’s topic was staying healthy on a cruise. With the recent outbreak of measles on the Freewinds cruise ship, I knew it was only a matter of time before I got the call!
In the past, local Jacksonville tv stations have reached out to me about the Costa Concordia, Carnival Triumph and man overboard cruise incidents.
I am honored that I’ve become a reliable and trusted resource for the local media. My goal is to always be truthful when a cruise related matter comes up and to clearly share my perspective as a cruise travel advisor.
TV interviews are exciting for me because it gives me a chance to meet local celebrities. It’s one thing to see someone on tv, but when you get to meet them in the studio, or when doing a stand-up interview, you get a chance to know them from their personal side!
Several months ago, WJXT anchor Melanie Lawson interviewed me about how to book a cruise vacation. Besides being incredibly beautiful, she was very kind and engaging during our interview. One thing I didn’t know until months later, she would conceal her natural hair on air. Her recent hair reveal was brave and an inspiration to many young girls!
I’ve known WJXT anchor Ashley Spicer for several years. She’s another news personality who is very kind and approachable. I’m hoping that sometime soon, her little daughter could meet my grandson Reed!
