As you know, I had the opportunity to visit Grand Palladium Riviera Maya, March 2019. I visited TRS Coral in Costa Mujeres in both 2019 and July of 2020. While cruises are currently paused due to Covid-19, Cancun resorts are becoming a popular tourist destination. Riviera Maya News reported a record low number of Covid infections! https://www.riviera-maya-news.com/cancun-riviera-maya-record-lowest-number-of-new-infections-in-3-months/2020.html
“The state of Quintana Roo began the week with the lowest number of new C-19 infections in at least three months. In a 24-period, the state recorded only 29 new cases and three deaths, the lowest in at least 90 days.
The state epidemiological light, which is effective until August 23, remains orange in all municipalities with health officials pointing out that the rate of infections has decreased considerably, now standing at .8 in the north and 1.4 in the south.
The State Secretary of Health reported that all three deaths were recorded in Benito Juárez (Cancun) and that 10 of the 29 new infections were also in Cancun. The balance of new infections recorded were eight in Othón P. Blanco, five in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, three in Solidaridad (Playa del Carmen), two in José María Morelos and one in Isla Mujeres.”
As I’ve said on recent TV appearances, it’s critical to resist the fear that the media pushes on us each day. The emotional toll that the Covid pandemic is putting on families is incalculable.
Recently, Mark Murphy was in Cancun and did several amazing videos on his Facebook page, also encouraging travelers to get moving.
