Norwegian Cruise Line raises prices for gratuities

Many of my friends ask me why I don’t actively sell NCL cruises.

I sailed on the Pearl twice, and found that the cruise line nickel and dimes guests over and over and over again.

NCL just announced a price increase for gratuities.

I hope that the other cruise lines don’t follow along.

Here’s the info from NCL.

SERVICE CHARGE INCREASE:
Norwegian Cruise Line is making a nominal adjustment to its daily service charges, effective April 1, 2018. Norwegian’s discretionary daily service charges make it easy for guests to provide gratuities to the onboard staff dedicated to delivering superior guest service throughout the cruise.

The new rates are:
Sky and Sun all-inclusive Suites – from $21.99 to $22.99
Sky and Sun all-inclusive, all other metas – from $18.99 to $19.99
Remainder of Fleet, Suites and The Haven – from $16.99 to $17.50
Remainder of Fleet, all other metas – from $13.99 to $14.50

Any guest that has made a booking by March 31, 2018 will have the option of prepaying their service charges at the current rate if done prior to sail date. Guests with existing cruise reservations who have already prepaid their service charges at the current rate are not affected.
