Full disclosure: I don’t subscribe to Netflix, but I’m a huge fan of Kristen Bell.
Thrillist.com has a review of the Netflix movie, “Like Father” which is billed as a drama comedy.
What caught my interest is that the movie revolves around a cruise ship!
Off the top of your head, what is the last movie you can recall that included a cruise ship?
If you guessed, “Alvin and the Chipmunks, ChipWrecked” you are correct!
Click on the link below for more details on that blockbuster (cough, cough).
Sure, you can also say, “Titanic” was cruise related, but my favorite cruise movie is, “Out to Sea”.
Trivia question: What ship was featured in the movie? Answer: The Holland America Line MS Westerdam!
Who can forget, “Mr. Data”, Brent Spiner as the cruise director introducing himself!
Speaking as a U.S. Navy veteran, I know that the Navy works with the film industry to put a good spin on Navy life.
Do you recall the movie, “The Final Countdown” starring a very young Martin Sheen and Kirk Douglas?
Everyone knows the Navy movies, “Top Gun”, “Battleship”, and my favorite, “The Hunt for Red October.”
I don’t recall all the beautiful people being in my Navy, but I do remember working 20 hour days in the middle of the Mediterranean!
Movies about the Navy are always exciting, and the TNT drama, “The Last Ship” has been a huge hit.
I’m glad that the film industry includes cruise ships in some of their movies, but they seem like more of a backdrop for what’s really going on.
If I get a chance, I will watch, “Like Father, but from what I understand, it’s basically a big commercial for Royal Caribbean!
