Dominican Republic Overview for tourists

Courtesy of Encyclopedia Brittanica

I visited TRS Turquesa in the Dominican Republic 6 months ago and had a great time. I wanted to share some information about the region from DominicanRepublic.com:

Punta Cana in a nutshell

Punta Cana is the most important travel destination in the whole Caribbean.  Located in the east corner of the Dominican Republic, the Punta Cana – Bavaro zone is part of La Alta Gracia province, the largest in the Dominican Republic.  The current population of the Punta Cana – Bavaro – Macao – Veron area has been estimated in about 50,000 inhabitants.

Punta Cana Today

Punta Cana and Bavaro are considered among the best 10 beaches in the world! This beautiful area has the highest concentration of beaches with Blue Flag certificates throughout the region with 16 certificates. Blue Flag is an environmental certificate that classifies the best beaches in the world. The beaches of Punta Cana with white sands and crystal clear waters, with turquoise blue colors, are so beautiful that they seem unreal. The Dominican Republic is the small corner of our planet that boasts two authentic earthly paradises: Bávaro Beach and Punta Cana. It is here where dreams are confused with reality, a reality of fine white sand, crystal clear waters and majestic mangrove forests and coconut trees. Seductive landscapes that will always be recorded among your most fabulous memories. Are you willing to become Eve or Adam in this Eden? Go ahead, open your eyes and take a walk through paradise.

In Playa Bávaro and Punta Cana, the foam of the turquoise waters rests on the sand of the beach, a sand so white that it is difficult to believe that it is authentic. And the palm trees color with an intense green these idyllic landscapes. The hotel offer, in perfect harmony with the natural environment, is responsible for organizing a large number of sports activities; the adventurers will also find their place among these beaches. What more could you want?

Located in the East of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana and Bávaro is the place where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet and where there are the most famous beaches of our island, wide and endless, with fine white sand and its beaches have millions of coconut palms, and a barrier of coral that runs along the coast, calm and transparent waters. In its route you can find several villages or typical places of Dominican fishermen.

This area has an optimal hotel infrastructure and has been until now the most visited by tourists from all over the world.

The Punta Cana International Airport is 20 kilometers away from hotels and resorts. Punta Cana is also the ideal destination for golfers, it has 11 golf courses located along the strip. Punta Cana is considered one of the largest tourist attraction poles of the Dominican Republic, offers about 50 km of beaches, a hotel infrastructure of excellence, international airport, facilities for all sports, from sailboat rides to the benefits of some of the best golf courses in the Caribbean and the pleasure of savoring delicious seafood by the sea.

It is at the eastern end of the island, exactly at the point of confluence between the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Adopted for years by tourism of European origin, it is home to some of the most renowned resorts in the Caribbean. A UNESCO report recognizes the beaches of Bavaro as the best in the world.
