Once again, the Cancun international airport continues to operate at pre-COVID levels by reporting over 1100 flights this past weekend (January 14-16, 2022.)

RivieraMayaNews.com is reporting, “Despite a rebound in global covid-19 cases, the Cancun International Airport continues to report high traffic. Over the weekend, the airport reported more than 1,100 flight operations in and out of Cancun International.

Airport managing company, Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), reported 522 flight operations on Sunday, most of which, were international. ASUR detailed that 262 operations were flight arrivals, of which 186 were international, a majority of those flights landing from the U.S. with 76 national flights landing.

On Saturday, the airport managing company also reported a busy travel day with 586 flight operations. ASUR reported 295 arriving flights on Saturday of which 80 were national and 215 international as well as 291 departures. Of those, 79 were national and 212, international departures.

Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR) says the aiport is connected with 17 national destinations and 77 international destinations with the operation of 40 airlines from around the world.”

Last week, Quintana Roo governor Carlos Joaquin said that the state would continue accepting tourists throughout the pandemic with health protocols in place.

I’ve traveled through the Cancun International Airport many times over the past few months during the COVID pandemic. I’m happy to say that the airport is fully staffed at both the entry and exiting immigration stations.

I can also say from first hand experience that the Palladium Hotel Group resorts near Cancun have done an outstanding job with COVID prevention measures during the pandemic. I have met so many of the amazing staff at the resorts, too many to mention on here.

TRS Yucatán has an amazing jungle feel, while TRS Coral has more of a “Miami-vibe” in my opinion. Either of these resorts, including Grand Palladium Riviera Maya or Costa Mujeres is definitely an experience you will never forget!
