You have several options; the local bus, renting a car, or using a reliable transportation company.
There is no chance that I would recommend to one of my friends to take the local bus. Many years ago, my wife took a local bus from a beach-side luxury Cancun hotel and headed into town. Definitely an experience I wouldn’t want to repeat!
You can decide to rent a car, but if you do, I strongly recommend you buy the insurance. The last thing you need is to get in a wreck on vacation! Yeah, you think your American Express Titanium card will cover it, but you better think again! Read the fine print!
In addition, if you’re used to a spacious car like your personal vehicle in the USA, you’ll have to pay for it in Cancun! Most affordable rental cars are VERY small (#poquito!)
